Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Warriors Table

From the very beginning of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a colorful mix of personalities, and a thrilling plot including angels, fiends, and malevolent powers growing in power within the urban setting.

Warning: Revealing details for the third episode of Campaign 4 follow below.

The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed

The third episode finished on a huge suspense moment and revealed the first table of characters who will split off from the primary party to embark on their independent quest, apart from the other two tables.

The combat-focused team includes Teor (played by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).

The Reason for Division

Given a large ensemble, it was evident from the outset that keeping everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.

This explains, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, intertwining the characters’ stories before dividing into three smaller tables: Warriors, Planners, and Seekers.

The Nature of the Combat Party

Per the DM, the Soldiers table is for players who are drawn to a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven narrative style where diplomatic options are rare.

Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander might appear mismatched, but the events of episode 3 show why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.

Why They Must Go

First, the party knows exactly where to head next after a violent opening clash with the antagonists.

A former ally of Thjazi—whose demise initiated the campaign’s events—exploited The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, breaking into the secret base, attacking the character, and swiping all the enchanted items to dispose of.

The traitor then cleared his liabilities and fled to a secure base in the northern region, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.

Individual Reasons

Additionally, each member has a individual motive to exit Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, desires retribution.
  • The adventurer has experience in the region and cautions that it is a dangerous environment.
  • The strong character and The cleric, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to kill the fighter and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
  • But, their position as important members in the powerful family could enable the party access areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Moreover, Teor vowed a eternal obligation to The cleric for his salvation and will now go with him anywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

Finally, all of them are hunted by the powers that rule Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind too risky:

  • Thimble and The character are known criminals.
  • The warrior and Wicander defied House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
  • Teor is targeted for elimination by the clan.

This leaves them few options but to travel to Timmony in quest for the antagonist.

Upcoming Developments

Based on episode three’s Cooldown, we discover that the combat party won’t be around the following episode, leaving the remaining eight cast members to assemble the Questers and Strategists tables.

Audiences can look forward to discovering which players will be in which group in the season’s last Overture episode, available to watch on next week.
